Guessing how much to feed
Nute burn. Lockout. Yellow leaves you can’t diagnose. Pouring until it drains tells you when to stop, not how strong the mix should be. Too weak and the plant goes hungry. Too strong and it can’t take up food at all.
If you’ve watched leaves yellow without knowing why, or followed forum advice and still harvested airy, light buds, this is the fix: the exact feed, climate targets and checks for every week of your grow, from the program Athena® runs in commercial grow rooms. The feed chart is built for Athena nutrients. Everything else works with any brand. It’s free, and it lands in your inbox right away.
A grow takes 19 weeks from seed through cure. One bad week of feeding or climate can cost you the whole harvest.

Both editions, metric and imperial, are on their way. Start with the feed chart on p37. It should hit your inbox in seconds. Don’t see it? Check spam, or email [email protected].
New to growing? Start on page one and follow along. Got a few harvests in? Go straight to the feed chart and the week-by-week pages.
Avoiding all four takes zero new gear. The handbook gives you a number to aim for and a simple routine for checking it.

Nutrients have to go into the water in a set order. Get it wrong and some of them fall out of the mix, so your plants never get them, even though the water looks fine.
A tent heats up and cools down fast, and the biggest swing usually hits when the lights go off. VPD is the balance of heat and humidity that keeps a plant drinking. Without a target for it, you’re guessing.
Bugs, mildew, pH drift and light leaks are all easy to deal with when you spot them early. They get missed when nobody checks on a schedule.
Athena® was born in the grow rooms of Los Angeles. Our Facility Advisors are former cultivation directors, head growers and irrigation specialists who’ve run facilities from 40,000 to 1,000,000+ sq ft. Your tent is a lot smaller. The weekly discipline is the same.

Each week tells you how much of each product to add to your water, in the order you add it. EC is how strong the mix is and pH is how acidic it is, and the chart gives you a target for both. Here are the four veg weeks, straight from page 37.

Excerpt from page 37 of the metric edition. Athena publishes this as a baseline recommendation; adjustments are at the grower’s discretion and vary by strain and run length.
13 daily checks and 6 weekly ones, straight from page 31. Print it and tape it inside your tent.
Most of these take a few seconds. Do them every day and you’ll spot a pH swing or a light leak before it hurts your plants.
Once a week you write a few numbers down, so you can see whether anything is changing.
